He is teaching Economics of Development and Macro-Economics.

  • Presented a paper entitled, 'Sustainable Development and MGNREGA' in the National Seminar on "Development and Ecology: Issues and Perspectives" held on 21st March 2011 in Shillong organized by Department of Sociology, NEHU.
  • Participated by invitation and presented a paper titled , 'Trust, Cooperation and Efficiency Deficits in Indian Universities' in the 3rd National Seminar on Maintenance of Teaching Standards in Higher Education: Issues, Problems and Reforms, held in NEHU Campus ,Shillong from 25th to 26th March 2011.
  • Participated as an invited speaker in a one day consultative national workshop for policy making on 'Empowering Lives through MGNREGA: Strengthening the Reform Agenda" and presented a paper titled "Addressing the demand through effective Institutional Arrangements" on 14th of November 2011 . The workshop was organized jointly by UNDP and Ministry of Rural Development, GOI and chaired by Shri Jairam Ramesh, Minister for Rural Development, GOI.
  • Participated as a resource person in a UGC sponsored two days workshop on Positive Discrimination organized by Women's College, Shillong on November 25th 2011 and presented a paper " Positive Discrimination and Weaker Sections of the Society"

Sessions in Seminars/Symposia/Conferences etc. Chaired:

  • Chaired the third technical session in the National Seminar on "Development and Ecology: Issues and Perspectives" held on 21st March 2011 in Shillong organized by Department of Sociology, NEHU.
  • To chair two sessions and participate as a resource person in the national workshop "Making MGNREGS Robust in NE Region: Strategies for Future'" to be held on March 5th & 6th , 2012 at NIRD-NERC, Guwahati. The Workshop is intended for - The District Programme Coordinators and Project Directors, DRDA in the eight NE States of India, Senior officials of RD Departments in these eight states, Academicians and Social Activists working for improved performance of MGNREGA

Policy Support Provided to Govt. of India:

  • Participated as a member in the 3rd meeting of the expert group on Research Methods in MGNREGA constituted by the Ministry of Rural Development, GOI. The meeting was held at NIRD, Hyderabad on 10th October 2011 and presided by Mr. B.N. Yugondhar, Former Member, Planning Commission of India.
  • Evaluated the performance of MGNREGA in the districts of Coimbatore and Salem in Tamilnadu, Allepey in Kerala, Nizamabad and Vijayanagaram in Andhra Pradesh and Keonjhar in Orissa as a member of the central team headed by Mr. K.B. Saxena, Former Secretary, MORD, Govt. of India from 17th December 2011 to 16th January 2012. The team was required to recommend the best performing districts for MGNREGA 2012 award by the Prime Minister.

Invited Lecturers Delivered:

  • Delivered an invited lecture on "Impact of Insurgent Activities on the Economic Development of the Country" on 9.2. 2011 in the Refresher Course for newly promoted Dy. SPs of the NE Region organized by North Eastern Police Academy, Shillong.
  • Acted as resource person in the first ICSSR Post doctoral Initiation Programme(2nd Meet) held in ICSSR Premises, Shillong on 17th March 2011 and reviewed the Research proposal of Dr. Irom Bidhanchandra Singh titled 'An investigation in to the relationship between ISO 9001-2000 Certification and Performance of Private Hospital in Manipur'.
